About

The Nordic Network for Critical Theory (NNCT) was founded in 2025 to bring together initiatives within the Nordic countries working on critical theory, understood as empirically, historically and philosophically informed social theory with emancipatory goals.

The network focuses on critical theory in the tradition of historical materialism and the Frankfurt school, and in dialogue with other strands of critical thought such as feminism, antiracism and postcolonial theory. It is interdisciplinary in nature and brings together researchers from philosophy, sociology, gender studies, criminology and other areas.

NNCT organizes annual conferences. Through this homepage and the newsletter of the network, it shares updates about events and other news relating to critical theory in the Nordic countries.
